Didn’t someone famous once say that communities that eat together stay together? And didn’t another famous person once say that calories consumed to benefit a good cause are digested instantly and never go to fat?
Sociogastrologists can test those claims at a pair of Tip Nights this week at Pizza Ranch in Jefferson and at the Lions’ pancake supper.
The first is slated for Monday, March 10, to benefit the Greene County Early Learning Center. The second will be Wednesday, March 12, with members of the local Aktion Club raising funds for its Relay for Life team.
The Tip Nights will take place from 5 to 8 pm. Volunteers from those groups will be on hand to greet diners and bus tables. Their groups will keep all tips, as well as 10 percent of the proceeds from dine-in and carry-out orders.
Also, the Jefferson Lions Club will host its annual pancake supper Monday, March 10, from 5 to 7 pm at the Elks lodge in Jefferson. Tickets are available from Lions Club members or at the door. Proceeds benefit a variety of community projects.
Looking ahead, the Churdan Library will host a St Patrick’s Day potato bar supper next Sunday, March 16, from 5 to 7 pm at the Churdan Community Room. There will be a baked potato bar with all the trimmings, hot dogs, loose meat sandwiches and desserts. Proceeds will to toward operating expenses for library programming, utilities, computers and books. Free will donations will be accepted.
Good fun…good food. Be there.
